Interplanetary Relations

Among the movers and shakers of the Alliance, there are few with mild feelings towards Viront Z85. Life on Viront is so fast and complex that other ways of life look slow and simple by comparison – even though it is a cooperative trading partner, playing nicely with others whenever possible, it is occasionally too bold and too bright to be liked. This planet of extremes experiences only the most intense partnerships and rivalries alike:

• Earth and Viront have often been at odds, with the former pushing for more regulation under which the latter chafes. Earthlings are intimately familiar with the cost of rampant extraction and financialisation, and they cannot help foreseeing disaster in Vironti ambition(s).
• Among the conglomerates of the Alliance, the Marz Union is conspicuous in its absence from Viront Z85 – it has consistently focussed on its own investments in the Spur region. Marzion IX enjoys, for lack of a better word, a long-standing rivalry with their industrial competitor: where the Marzion work culture is structured, process-oriented and committed to safety, Viront’s is fluid, improvisational and devoted to results.
• Vironti don’t know what to make of Sultonia, or its people. The slow and steady three-legged race pace of a “rural” backwater planet is anathema to the breakneck speed of Vironti culture – it must be said, however, that Sultonians on Viront generally adapt faster to city living than the reverse.
• Geostation Kessler is a trusted and proven partner to Viront, and a frequent sight in its orbit. Viront gets what any other host to Kessler gets – a clean sweep of their airspace, necessary to keep up with their relentless schedule of both industry and revelry. In return, Kessler harvests a wide variety of exotic particulates and byproducts from Vironti industry. The arrival of Kessler once every few years is a consistent social event in the otherwise malleable Vironti calendar.
