Apart from small-scale community policing efforts and monitoring of the planet’s imports and exports, Sultonia’s main security concern is observing the cordon between Alliance-controlled space and the open stretches of the Helium Lanes. In particular, SHADOW pirate crews are known to harass any vessel that passes into their territory, and Sultonia is the nearest port of call for Alliance naval escorts and those they help back to safer shores.

Sultonia is also known for the suite of survival techniques developed by its early settlers to deal with conditions on the planet in the desperate early days of terraforming. These techniques have been adopted (and adapted) across the Alliance, and many an explorer on a far-flung moon owes their survival, and the success of their mission, to Sultonian methods for securing shelter and sustenance in extremis.
