Sultonia’s youth as a planet makes it an excellent live case study for planetary formation in general. Within the layers of the mantle, chunks of the “Lost Six” are still being found – encysted fragments of the destroyed planets that became Sultonia, each a rich source of information on the Cassiter system’s earlier state and the effects of a star’s evolution on the system around it.

As a planet-sized biome designed to be habitable (though not, as of yet, entirely comfortable) for all Alliance species, Sultonia is also a site of research into habitability in general. CABs, or “closed atmosphere biomes”, are infrequent but welcome neighbours to Sultonian farmsteads – these are self-contained laboratory habitats, built to replicate specific planetary conditions so as to rear lifeforms and minerals that cannot endure Sultonian soil by themselves.
