Research
The Marz Union invests significant time and resources into studying the weather and the chemical composition of Marzion IX; understanding storm patterns is essential to maintaining the safety of the IXTIS platforms and their crews.
The planet’s gas reserves are several tens of thousands of kilometres deep, and it would take many lifetimes to appreciably alter its mass at the current rate of extraction. With that being said, there are growing concerns that the removal of heavy elements and denser gas pockets closer to the core might be having knock-on effects on the composition of the higher layers – potentially presenting additional and novel risks to the inhabitants. Research into this critical subject is ongoing.
