Interplanetary Relations
Humans and Anthroids can be found on all the major planets of the Alliance, and even a few places beyond its reach. While Earth is their common point of origin, it is up to the individual how they feel about the planet – just as many have left the planet behind completely as have embraced their heritage, with most falling somewhere in between
Earth’s relations with the other major planets vary:
- Earth hosts a number of Kessleran colleges as embedded parts of Earth’s museums and preservation institutes. Kessler’s expertise in orbital clearance is valuable to Earthling conservation efforts, though the geostation has yet to make a sweep of Earth’s fragile atmosphere.
- Earth scientists are strongly represented on Sultonia’s terraforming project, using their knowledge of how to rejuvenate an old world to inform how the Alliance invigorates a new one. Many former Earthlings, especially those hailing from the Arctic Communities, have resettled on Sultonia as farmers.
- Many Earthlings carry a healthy scepticism of Viront’s “high speed, high competition, maximum results” extremophile culture. The fact that the Vironti corporation Flambardi runs the largest leisure arcology on Luna (and that you can see the blazing lights of said arcology from Earth’s surface, on the rare chance that the planet sees a clear night sky) does not help matters.
- Few Alliance planets can run without relying on Marzion’s resources for FABREP technology, and Earth is no exception. Whilst Marzion’s much more relaxed approach to environmentalism is at odds with Earth culture, Marzion’s search and rescue expertise has proven invaluable for a planet which is still frequently subject to extreme weather from its unstable atmosphere. Earth’s emergency services are run in a permanent collaboration with the Marz Union.
