Character Details

Planet of Origin

There are five origin planets your character can be from. If you wish to be from a spaceship, you must still be affiliated with one of these five planets. It is not currently possible for players to create their own planet to be from in this game, or originate from an alien homeworld (other than Earth).

Your planet of origin does not confer any mechanical benefits. However, each planet comes with its own society, philosophies, and approaches to the universe, and we encourage you to pick the planet which has the ideas you’re most keen to explore or which is the best fit for your character’s motivations. There may also be roleplay situations or in-game scenarios specific to each planet.

Aliens

There are six playable aliens at Ardent Spacers. It is not currently possible for players to create their own aliens to play in this game, but more will be added over time as the story progresses.

There are no mechanical bonuses to playing any of these aliens, but each may have specific roleplay prompts when entering new environments or receiving specific injuries or medical treatments.

Names

Choose your character name!

This can be as simple as a first name, or a long combination of first names, family names, and other planetary culture naming points.

You will also have the option to add nicknames to your character, primarily to help crew identify you if you don’t always go by your first name.

Job prefixes that are suitable to your profession, such as Dr, are appropriate to add here.

Restrictions

Avoid copying full names from popular media. Even if it’s a niche piece of media, it’s much better to put your own spin on it.

Player Groups

You may opt to be in a number of groups. Group types are split into On Duty and Off Duty.

  • On Duty groups are your main gameplay groups, determining which missions you can go on, run by a mixture of players and NPCs.
  • Off Duty groups are your social groups, run and managed entirely by players.

On Duty: Division Groups

These On Duty groups are subsections of Divisions, with all their members being in the same Division.

Some will be formed by NPCs, others entirely player created. It is down to the leader to enforce membership requirements. You may camp in division groups in the Division camps.

A-COM may interfere with Division Groups, moreso with NPC formed ones than player created ones. If you are in a player-created division group and have done something to cause A-COM to need to interfere, a referee will check in with the leader before IC altercations where possible.

On Duty: Task Groups

These On Duty groups are open to any player character, regardless of Division. They are exclusively formed by NPCs or division leadership to complete specific tasks, be it a single mission during an event or a long-term objective.

Off Duty: Social Groups

A more casual player group type. These are general groups where the membership requirements are determined by the group leader. They are often linked by Planet of Origin or Alien species, but do not need to be.

You may camp in social groups in the Off Duty area.
