Onboard Divisions of the Ardent
The ARV-ARDENT is a CC4 research habitat and deep-space exploration vessel.
It is a fold-capable cluster voidcraft composed of five modules.
Each is a formidable and viable craft in its own right, led by its own division, and dedicated to an element of the ARDENT’s mission.
A central COMMAND cradle bridges the gap between the other four modules: RESEARCH, SECURITY, INTELLIGENCE, and MAINTENANCE.
A-COM
Command Division [NPC FACTION]It is the duty of A-COM’s bridge team to remain in space and co-ordinate the movements of the other divisions on the ground. The Ardent receives communications from the Alliance via onboard ansible, a vital lifeline as the cluster reaches deeper into unexplored space.
KENOLAB
Medical & Research DivisionKENOLAB associates are the Ardent’s “science team”, with a side of “medbay/sickbay” – including paramedic duties in the field. Their gameplay pillars are Bio-Med and Engineering, with division plots leaning into weird and wondrous experiments so as to understand the unknown.
MATTOCK
Exploration & Security DivisionMATTOCK troopers are the main armed detail and tactical operations team aboard the Ardent – think classic redshirts, or the colonial marines from Alien. Their gameplay pillars are Combat and Diplomacy, with division plots centred on exploring the unknown and ensuring their comrade’s safety when encountering new lifeforms.
DIPLO
Arbitration & Intelligence DivisionDIPLO agents are the diplomatic corps of the Ardent, naturally. While they aren’t members of the A-COM bridge crew, their faction plots lean on classic Star Trek “bridge” plots – intrigue, play and counterplay, and much ado about holodecks. Their gameplay pillars are Diplomacy and Bio-Med, with the latter focussing on understanding other forms of life rather than medicine per se.
TASKMINDERS
Maintenance & Procurement DivisionTASKMINDER operatives are engineers first – think “warp core breaches” – and traders second. Their gameplay pillars are Engineering and Combat: their faction plots aim at solving mechanical and practical problems when it comes to the former, and procuring necessary materials from potentially hostile territories for the latter.
