Equipment

Equipment is anything you equip to yourself to let you do something – like Blasters, Swords, and Armour. Treat Equipment like you would Skills at other games.

There are two key rules for equipment:

  • All equipment must be physrepped.
  • Equipment must be maintained after a set amount of time.

Many physreps that you would usually need a skill to use in other games, you will instead need an in-game item for at this game. You can bring any number of physreps with you, but only those with a Lammie can be used.

  • Ribbons are used for basic items such as blasters, swords, or simple grenades. They are intended to be attached to the physrep at all times.
  • Card Lammies are used for more complicated items that need a longer description.
  • You can always change which item your ribbon or lammie is on, for example if your blaster jams and you want to use a different one, but any item without a ribbon or lammie is treated as a prop and cannot be used for its purpose or taken out of the main base.

Power

Items frequently require Power to use their effect. This is a Resource that should be attached to the piece of Equipment it is powering, and is ripped when that item uses its powered effect. This is how we limit how frequently an effect can be used.

Maintenance

All pieces of equipment owned by the player will need maintaining after a while. Each one may have a different maintenance cycle, usually in years, so you’ll need to check the lammie to see when maintenance is due. Your salary across several events will be more than enough to maintain your starting equipment, and purchase some upgrades.

An item that has not been maintained will be unusable until it has been maintained again.

To maintain an item, take it to the COMMAND HUB, where you’ll find a member of A-COM. Give them the item and one Maintenance Kit, and they’ll get it sorted ready for you to collect later that day or the next day.

This mechanic is in place as an economic sink, getting money and resources out of the game in the form of Maintenance Kits. It also gives the Game Team a chance to issue balancing updates to items, without the need to put out callouts online to submit your items for lammie updates.

Items you gain at Character Creation will never need maintaining on your first event.
