Choose your Division

At character creation, you choose your character’s Division first. This is a core part of your character concept and determines what their work life will be at events, which part of the ship they’re on, and what specialist equipment they have the ability to use.

Each of the Divisions are designed to have a specialism – a focus on one of the four gameplay areas – and things they have to rely on other Divisions for. The more difficult a task is, the more you’ll have to work together with other players outside of your Division.

Divisions

There are five departments on the Ardent, four of which are playable. A-COM, the Command Division, is an NPC faction.

If you wish to change division in-game, you will undergo training between events to swap your training. You will become able to use your new Division’s specialist equipment, and forget how to use your previous one’s.

Specialist Equipment

In the next section, you’ll be able to purchase your starting equipment. One of these sections is specialist equipment – things you can only use if you’re in a specific Division. This limiter is to represent your professional training, and prevent one Division becoming entirely self-sustaining.

Each Division’s specialist equipment is based on their gameplay focus of combat, biomed, engineering, or diplomacy. It will help tailor the Division towards their objectives, and give them the upper hand in certain situations. Divisions will have to work together to complete major event objectives and ensure the smooth functioning of the ship.
