After Time Out
On Sunday at Time Out, there will be a 30 minute cleanup period between 2pm and 3pm. Participating in the site-wide dart cleanup is compulsory for those who used blasters at the event, but there will be plenty of smaller cleanup tasks for everyone to help with. Once you’ve assisted with this task you’ll be free to do your own camp setdown.
Crewing Slots
In order to provide large-scale combat missions, players are required to help crew for up to two hours during the weekend. There will be non-combat and low mobility options. You are expected to participate in at least one crewing slot each event; if you play a battle, you should sign up to crew the other Battle Slot, and if you don’t battle, you’re expected to sign up to a Monstering or General Crew slot.
There are a variety of roles to play during each type of Monstering, ranging from supportive Ardent NPCs, to local aliens or aggressive invading forces.
- There will be low-physrep or human characters available wherever possible.
- There will be masked or helmeted characters, ideal to hide a player character’s alien makeup.
You will need to bring your own weapon physreps and basic costume to match the Battle or Monstering slot; at minimum, neutral to black layers so you can wear crew kit on top.
Signing Up
In the Command Hub, there will be signup sheets for each type of crewing slot.
- Each battle will be determined on Friday. If you play one, you are expected to crew the other.
- Monstering Slots are open for signups before the event and throughout Friday and Saturday.
- Crewing Slots are usually determined before the event, but any remaining slots will be listed here.
Battle Slots
These slots are intended for those who:
- Wish to play in one of the battles
- Are combatants or have high mobility
Crewing battles may not always be suitable for non-combatants or those with low mobility; if you think this applies to you, please discuss with a referee before committing to a Battle Slot so we can discuss what roles may be available to you, and whether you can replace your Battle Slot with a Monstering or General Crew slot.
When crewing a battle, you should arrive at the Crew Hut between 9:30am and 10:00am.
- Role delegations begins at 9:30am
- Battle preparation will end by 10:30am
- Battles begin between 10:30am and 11:00am
- Battles should end before midday; as soon as your role is complete, you will be free to return any crew kit to the Crew Hut and go back to playing.
Monstering Slots
These slots are intended for those who:
- Do not wish to participate in Battles Slots
- Are combatants, non-combatants, or have low mobility
- Want to donate more time to crewing in addition to Battle Slots
Crewing Monster Slots is suitable for everyone. They are not compulsory if you’ve crewed a battle but are highly encouraged – it’s the easiest way to give back to other players and improve their game, as well as giving you the chance to participate in Division-specific missions by playing the adversaries your friends are facing.
Monstering Slots will be advertised in advanced as well as during the Friday and Saturday of the event, so you can choose a Monstering Slot to fit in with your personal schedule.
General Crewing Slots
These slots are intended for those who wish to assist the event in ways other than playing crew characters and creatures. They are suitable for everyone, and may be at any point in the weekend, including outside of Time In. Participating in a Crewing Slot does not replace the need to do a Battle Slot if you intend to play a battle, and is encouraged if you don’t wish to do a Monstering Slot.
Potential crewing slots:
- Parking warden
- Weapons safety
- Runner
- Dart checking
- Crew dressing and makeup
- Encounter setup
Not Participating in Crewing Slots
Participating in some form of crewing during each event is part of the social contract of playing this game. As the game grows, we won’t be able to provide large-scale encounters without this help from players.
Repeatedly missing Battle Slots you have signed up to will result in you being barred from playing battles until you’ve caught up through Battle Slots or Monstering Slots.
Participating in Monstering Slots against other Divisions helps encourage them to Monster for your missions, improving the game for both groups. The fewer sign-ups there are to Monstering Slots, the less likely that Division will be to return the favour in the future.
If you are late for or miss your Crewing Slot, it will have a knock-on effect to parts of the game. If you’ll struggle to attend your chosen slot, know you need to reschedule due to an IC clash, or end up accidentally miss it, please talk to a referee so we can reschedule you to another time.
