Credits
Credits are the standard currency within the Alliance. They are not the only currency, but they must be accepted by all Alliance planets and traders. This is the sole currency the official stores onboard will use.
Credits are represented by 3D printed coins.
Vouchers
Vouchers are an AES Ardent exclusive currency. They can be redeemed at official ship establishments for various goods and services.
Vouchers are assigned to your Ardent Number and are not tradeable: you must be present for any purchase.
The Game Design goal of Vouchers is to ensure every player has a set minimum amount of equipment and access to certain activities. It is based on an Out Of Character limit to help ensure you can interact with the game, and limit access to certain scenarios we want everyone to have a fair chance to experience, or where you have paid extra for a service (such as a meal ticket).
You will first encounter Vouchers at character creation. Each character gets 50 Credits worth of Equipment Vouchers to set themselves up for their job on the Ardent. These cannot be exchanged for Credits to spend elsewhere, but can be saved for later equipment purchases.
Bribes
Bribes are a resource commonly associated with diplomats. This is to put an in-game value to the concept, to give players a financial incentive to accept the request and add some weight to the roleplay. They are especially useful against NPCs who don’t value Alliance currency.
If you accept a Bribe, you can take it to the Ship Shop to exchange it for 10 credits, or try using it on someone else!
Other Currencies
More currencies will enter play over time as players encounter new planets and traders from specific Alliance planets.
Currency Exchange
The value of each new currency may fluctuate over time when compared to Credits. The Ardent will provide a currency exchange service for currencies recognised as part of the Alliance.
